WWE TLC 2016 Review

So here are my thoughts for WWE TLC 2016:

The Wyatt Family (Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt w/ Luke Harper) VS Heath Slater & Rhyno (c) for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships

This match was pretty short and all-in-all very one-sided.  It went pretty much how I expected it to go.  Harper gave assistance and interference here and there, and as The Wyatt Family wore down the tag team champions, they were able to catch Rhyno off guard by distracting him with Bray Wyatt's Spider Stance, allowing Orton to connect with the RKO.

Winners: The Wyatt Family

Match Rating: 2 out of 5 Stars

Nikki Bella VS Carmella - No Disqualification Match

This match was pretty physical, and one of the more hard Women's matches i've seen in a while.  However, it was still pretty short and went directly the way everyone thought it would.  John Cena has an influence on the WWE even when he's not here...
Also Carmella drops the fact that Natalya attacked Nikki Bella at Survivor Series.

Winner: Nikki Bella

Match Rating: 2 out of 5 Stars

Dolph Ziggler VS The Miz (w/ Maryse) (c) - Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship

God I love a good ladder match, and we haven't had one since Wrestlemania for this very championship.  I honestly can't remember the last time we've seen a one-on-one ladder match.  Very inventive use of the ladders and some great spots in this match. Such a great story told with this match as well, such heart and dedication bringing prestige back to the Intercontinental Championship.  I don't like the Miz very much and was actually wanting Ziggler to go over here, but after the storytelling and intensity in this match, I really don't mind

Winner: The Miz

Match Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Stars

Baron Corbin VS Kalisto - Chairs Match

Kalisto starting out with throwing all of the chairs into the ring during his entrance, which is an awesome start, but Baron Corbin gets the jump on him.  From there it turned into the typical Baron Corbin domination of Kalisto.  Seated Senton spot was bomb! Baron Corbin ends the match with a really cool End of Days spot on a pile of chairs, but another predictable finish.

Winner: Baron Corbin

Match Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars

Alexa Bliss VS Becky Lynch (c) - Tables Match for the Smackdown Women's Championship

This match was the first match of the night where the outcome was hazy to me.  I could see both women walking out Champion tonight.  The match itself was very fast and very intense, displaying the rivalry between these two.  It was also pretty back and forth as well, both women had a chance to show their athletic prowess and dominance. Damn, I'm pretty sure that was the first time that kind of Table DDT spot has ever been done, very innovative and interesting use of the Table.  Wow, that ending was so fast and unexpected.  A truly shocking ending that resulted in a new champion.

Winner: Alexa Bliss

Match Rating: 3.25 out of 5 Stars

Dean Ambrose VS AJ Styles (c) - TLC Match for the WWE World Championship

This match kicked off very physical, and these guys went outside the ring and started using weapons so quickly.  Dean Ambrose started brutalizing AJ Styles with some cool, as well as funny, spots. As the match continued, we began to see a more hardcore match as Dean Ambrose began to get more serious and AJ Styles went back to a more level playing field.  A lot of awesome object spots in this match, and a lot of intense animosity between these two.  I could honestly watch this match forever.  Only one thing could ruin this match, and it came out at the end of the match in the form of James Ellsworth...I wanted to think that James Ellsworth wasn't going to turn heel and just fade away into nothingness after this match, and I guess that was just wishful thinking.  I hate him...

Winner: AJ Styles due to Interference from James Ellsworth

Match Rating:
If James Ellsworth didn't interefere, this match was going to be a strong Match of the Year candidate. But the ending was ruined by his damned interference and predictability.
Final verdict is 3 out of 5 Stars.

Overall

Overall the show was very predictable, the only aspect of the show I didn't see coming was Alexa Bliss winning the women's championship, and even that I had a gut feeling.  A lot of good matches, and some subpar ones as well.  Storylines developed a bit, which is always nice and i'm wondering where James Ellsworth is going to go from here.

Show Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars
