The Bandicoot Banter

Sony's Playstation 1 Console The Playstation 1 is a console that is incredibly near and dear to my heart.  Not only was it the first console that I ever owned, but it helped create my first memories of gaming as I know it today.  The console is only as good as its games, and the games for the Playstation 1 are usually overlooked in this age due to the superior technical performance of games that are currently on the market.  However, in its day, the Playstation 1 was the home to incredible masterpieces of games that are, in a lot of cases, the cornerstones of adult gamers beginning their lives in video gaming.  Here are 10 games that had the same influence on me. (there's also going to be a rule that I'm not going to include more than one game in a franchise, so I don't flood this list with Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon!). Also keep in mind that this is my own personal opinion, if your favorite PS1 game didn't make the cut, it is because we have differe...

So I may be a little late to the party considering that the return of Crash Bandicoot was announced at E3 this year, but as this blog is appropriately named the Bandicoot Banter, and as an avid Crash Bandicoot lover since the day I was born,  I thought I would finally weigh in on my feelings about the Skylanders Game, the Remasters, and the media time that Crash has gotten as of late. Skylanders Imaginators - Crash Bandicoot Edition Crash Bandicoot as a playable character in   Skylanders Imaginators In the very beginning, when Crash Bandicoot's revival was nothing more than a fantasy in the land of forgotten and thrown away video game franchises, a common phrase was "never in Skylanders"  the video game community had made it very clear that if Crash Bandicoot were to ever return, they didn't want it to be through Skylanders.  However, that is exactly what happened, and people were definitely torn.  When it was announced that Crash Bandicoot was going ...

So this is an idea that I thought would be fun to toy around with, and I hope you guys like it too.  It's basically a who would win in a fight battle between two icons/heroes/fictional characters etc.  Because this is such a lengthy process of research, determining outcomes, and simulation, this is probably something that will happen only once in a blue moon, but I hope you guys like this sort of thing. This is meant for you guys to enjoy, so I am very open to suggestions as to who you would like to see in a fight.  The first battle on the list is Crash Bandicoot (yes another one I'm sorry, after this article I'll take a break from good old Crash) VS Spyro the Dragon.  To truly analyze this fight, we have to go through the pros and cons of each character as well as any special abilities they may have and how the battle will go down.  So without further ado, let's get into it. Crash Bandicoot Background Crash Bandicoot Crash is a failed experiment of...

So now that I have posted another double article (Pokemon Pokedex Entries) I felt less bad about taking another swing into the Crash Bandicoot Universe.  I'd actually like to start doing more Top 10s, as I thoroughly enjoyed writing the Christmas one.  In this list I will only be featuring titles that were in the main series, so no mobile games or handheld games  will be included in this list. So without further ado, here are my opinions on the Top 10 Crash Bandicoot Titles from worst to best. 10. Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex This atrocity of a Crash Bandicoot game was Crash's debut onto the Playstation 2, and many people had incredibly high hopes for the Australian marsupial's leap onto the platform.  However, this game was a major let down to fans all across the world, as this game took away from the original's success in so many ways.  The first of which, and the most obvious area, is the graphics.  The original Crash Bandicoot all the way u...

So as promised, to start the blogging off, I'd like to talk a little bit about my favorite Australian marsupial, Crash Bandicoot.  His games are loved by many, and the beloved Bandicoot definitely revolutionized both the platforming and 3D genres of video gaming.  His goofy demeanor as well as his adorable nature made countless gamers fall in love with him, and it would only be fitting that Naughty Dog put small little hints of comedy as well as hidden secrets in his games.  Talking about the history of Crash is a blog for another day, but right now I'd like to share my 5 favorite Easter Eggs that can be found in Crash Bandicoot titles.  This includes every single one (yes, even Wrath of Cortex and the GBA titles.) 5. Spyro and Crash Something that is very common knowledge to most gamers that were around for the time, Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog were two studios that worked very closely to one another in the 1990s.  This was very much so exemplified thro...
